Hertz’ EV Hiccups Look Temporary

The piece here is actually informative and a lot more nuanced than the clickbait title on the thumbnail.

Early adopters run into challenges, and that’s happened here. Outlook? Hertz will be buying more EVs, and from a wider range of manufacturers. Transition continues.

  1. We held back for almost three years before buying the eMini, did quite a bit of research though a big part of the delay was in my experience with previous new technology rollouts. We could have rushed right out and bout a Muskmobile, which would have been a mistake … as Hertz is coming to amortize. That was their mistake, buying Teslas

What they really did was cause a market bubble, artificially induced a spike with their joint announcement that while a few made a few bucks it really didn’t do much for the long run

    1. My sister drives my Leaf every time she visits and she’s still remarking on the quick response and pickup. (She drives a pickup at home and has no interest in the monster-sized and monster-priced EV pickups available.)

      1. They are scary fast. Been a couple of times I’ve gotten pissed at tailgating trucks and put my foot in it, went from 30 or 35 to 60 in a second. In the time to look down the road, up at the mirror, down at the speedo and back up to the road.

Nimble is a word I like to use, I actually find myself driving more like I used to ride my Harley than a four-wheel. Not necessarily aggressive or offense, as opposed to defensive driving, just get out of everything that might be a problem. Don’t give ’em a chance …
