Jeff Masters and Kevin Trenberth on El Nino and Ocean Heat

It’s great when an El Nino comes around, (see below) and you just happen to have current footage of two acknowledged global experts on the subject.

Kevin Trenberth of the National Center for Atmospheric Research was interviewed in December, and I talked to Jeff Masters at his home not far away, last week.

  1. Enlightening video of Jeff Masters a notable meteorologist and Kevin Trenberth a well respected Atmospheric Scientist, agreeing on the variability caused by ENSO phases. The conclusion is the oceans have been storing heat which will be released at change in the ENSO state. I do not doubt their conclusion and am sure we will see the sharper upward trend resume in the near future.

NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratory has just released February 2015 Mauna Loa CO2 monthly average

    February 2015:     400.26 ppm
    February 2014:     397.91 ppm

still trending up to dangerous climate change margins. Lots of talk and some action (but not enough). Time to get very serious indeed, and time to cast off the industry of doubt.
