I posted earlier today about the Republican Party’s hostility to scientific knowledge.
Just before his death, Carl Sagan warned us about the perils of a technological society where fewer and fewer people know, or care, what science says.

On 2013-12-27 the NPR program ScienceFriday replayed a 1996 interview with Carl Sagan. You can listen to it here:

Do you know why Carl Sagan and Richard Feynmann are favoured for quotes by deniers and Einstein by Godbotherers? It’s because they are dead and there is no risk that they will dispute any misrepresentations attributed to them.
How true. And the same is true of Jesus. He too is dead, and the right wing bible-thumpers have been all too busy “misrepresenting” his “message”.
(BTW, I recommend the website “Jesus Is a Liberal” to all—-the “hate mail” page is a laugh riot)
