I’ve been looking for something smaller than my Leaf, and the Mini Cooper looks like the next candidate (while I pass my Leaf onto someone else).
In GM and Ford the decisionmakers have a comfortable ICE fallback that undermines any commitment to EVs, especially since the the heads of the old ICE product lines are consistently advocating for their own departments.
All the other automakers are having their model 3 moment. Tesla almost went under working out their production. Now it’s legacys’ turn. I remember all the trash talking (deserved in part by Musks’ insistence on an all-automated production line that was very premature according to the engineers) Tesla took from all and sundry.

Tesla’s success in the EV market is existential.
