Year in Review: Iowa TV News on Solar Energy Misinformation
December 28, 2022
It’s rampant, and the template is the same everywhere – fossil fuel funded “Think Tanks” put out misinformation on social media, and rely on dozens of local Fox-News befuddled activists to spread and amplify.
News report from KCRG in Cedar Rapids IA.

Our own local Express weekly had a letter this week that someone sent in that says all this carbon is so good for our earth. We don’t have to go far to get falsehoods…. ann

My candidate for the most misleading energy statement is that solar is the cheapest form of energy. It can not replace other forms of electricity generation without considerable land, transmission and backup costs.

Solar is free. It’s hard to beat free.
You know that fossil fuel is stored solar, right?

The oceans are full of free water, but making it drinkable is not free.

Solar AND WIND are the cheapest sources of energy. After efficiency.
Of course that’s not including the $6 trillion in externalities those nutty hippies over at the IMF imagine aren’t being paid by fossil fuels.
Offshore wind same price as onshore! August 2022
https://www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-record-low-price-for-uk-offshore-wind-is-four-times-cheaper-than-gas/
“A UK government auction has secured a record 11 GW* of new renewable energy capacity that will generate electricity nine times more cheaply than current gas prices.
The projects are all due to start operating within the next five years up to 2026/27 and have agreed to generate electricity for an average price of £48 per MWh in today’s money. This is nine times cheaper* than the £446/MWh current cost of running gas-fired power stations.
…Most of the new capacity – some 7GW – will be offshore wind. Notably, for the first time, these projects were cheaper than the 1.5GW of onshore wind or 2.2GW of solar.”

They are cherry picking a huge war induced gas price spike. That first link even has a graph of it.

war.
the war that was, in fact, induced by greed for Ukraine gas fields and pipelines, and is being fought with gas and oil as weapons.
Do you imagine there will be no more wars for oil and gas?
Fossil bros willing to pay any cost in money and blood to keep drilling.
Thing is, we don’t have to.
