In the early noughties, there was a lot of discussion surrounding recharge projects for the large south Texas Edwards’ Aquifer (primary water source for San Antonio). One issue that came up was that aquifer recharge projects, unlike dam projects, wouldn’t draw as much political support from the developers and real estate agents who always want more waterfront property but for whom aquifers held little interest.
