   Due to all of the geology classes I’ve taken (and research talks I’ve attended), this simplification is a bit painful.

   “To tap into the deepest and hottest rock capable, close to the Earth’s core….”

   Ouch.

   Continental crust alone is tens of kilometers thick before you hit the 2,900 kilometer thick mantle, let alone the core.
