This video is years out of date; inequality has increased tremendously since it was made, with billionaires pumping up their fortunes by a trillion dollars during the pandemic, largely through predatory practices, while most people’s security and well-being have either stagnated or—especially at the lower end—plummeted.

“U.S. billionaire wealth surged by a cool 70% during the pandemic and we’re somehow still debating whether the billionaires should be taxed.” Robert Reich

As long as such vast inequality exists in the US and the world, the poor will lose every battle on every issue, and will be kept poor, ignorant, uneducated, manipulated, and poisoned with the deadly, physically debilitating, and psychoactive products of “civilization”. As long as both parties continue to represent the oligarchy, that won’t change, and they’ll continue to do that as long as we let them.

      (1) That particular 2012 video is one I’ve considered to be a prime example of the best animated representations of data. (This is why I love Peter’s insertion of pics, charts and animations under the audio of scientific descriptions.)

      (2) It’s worth pointing out that the relationship within the US is not very different from showing the wealth of the US vs. the rest of the world. While the US safety net is abysmal when considering its wealth, a poor person living in a city shelter in the US may have better access to clean water and medical care than hundreds of millions of people around the world.

Absolutely, but despite years of intermittent, renewably-powered searching I haven’t found any that show global inequality nearly as well as this one does the US. Know of any?

This video was exceptional. I’ve seen other well-made animated videos (Kurzgesagt is good), but non reflecting global inequality.

This one was based on a specific survey of American perception, to begin with.
