Well presented and gripping lecture, hope it reaches many people. It truly didn’t have to have been like this, we could have done so much more, so much earlier, but we didn’t. But did we learn ?
It’s the cruelest betrayal of them all: Physics, especially gas physics, is used throughout the process of finding, extracting, and refining their product. Without physics, they couldn’t exist. And yet, the same physics applied to the atmosphere was tarred, by this same industry, as ‘communism’. If anyone had a reason to be grateful toward, and respectful of, gas physics, it was this industry. At some point they just got seduced by the money.

The fossil fuel industry did not ignore climate science, of course. It explicitly worked to undermine it.
