“Big Oil lied.

You have a president in their pay.
(Will corporate Democrats be different?)

If predicted Texas seats turn blue, it’s plausible that the politician will continue to suck up to state oil interests, even if PV solar and wind are major growth industries there.

Does anyone really think any reasonable court is going to deem that Exxon et al broke any laws by making and selling gasoline and heating oil? Products that do not cause AGW ? In a country that has a supposedly functioning EPA, whose sole function is to protect the environment?
It was our government which did not do its job. It’s you and me who burned all that fossil fuel in our cars and furnaces, and we bloody well knew what we were doing. That’s what this whole Twitter meme is really about – us projecting our collective guilt onto petroleum companies because they made an environmentally inert substance that WE turned into CO2.
This is not Exxon’s sin – it is ours and our government’s.

Is this satire, GB? It’s not particularly funny if so.
I actually think climate change is indeed a collective sin, but Exxon is most certainly guilty, too, especially as they’ve given countless dollars towards corrupted political campaigns and think tanks with PR agendas over several decades, all of which helped twist public opinion towards the science, and when they knew full well what the science said. They might not have technically broke any laws, but they sure as shooting bear more than a large portion of the blame for our current state of affairs.
This never got mentioned here, but this happened late last year:

“… especially as they’ve given countless dollars towards corrupted political campaigns and think tanks with PR agendas over several decades, all of which helped twist public opinion towards the science, and when they knew full well what the science said…”
That is a completely different kettle of fish. That is their true crime.
