The wooden wind turbine tower video is long but well worth watching. Entertaining, educational, and delivered at a level that most folks can deal with. Could be just another “bright idea” that will prove impractical, but it DOES make a lot of sense. Sell your Solar Roadway stock and invest in these guys.

A friend and I who talk about art sometimes, had a conversation a few years ago about wind turbine esthetics. This seems like the perfect way to broaden the choices for turbines, to allow rows of Corinthian, Doric, or garish Knossos columns, Tlingit totem poles, Easter Island statues, simulated redwoods. And of course the columns could come in white, off-white, ecru, eggshell, bone, ivory, beige…

You can achieve a lot of those effects with paint. The issue might be the differential aging of the paint based on albedo.
