Trailer: Greenland

March 31, 2020

Uncanny timing on this.

The same day the President switched to a new, graver tone on COVID-19.

FYI: Earth has always been supremely hostile to life. That’s why more than 95% of all species that ever lived are now extinct

Why has this comment gotten three thumbs up? Because it’s a quote from NdGT, a “celebrity” scientist whose main goal is to say things that get noticed by those who value celebrity over truth?

Sorry, folks, but anyone who has studied the life sciences knows that the Earth is supremely WELCOMING to life, and has been for billions of years. That’s why life developed on Earth in the first place, has evolved into countless forms, and inhabits every niche on the planet. Yes, life forms go extinct because of changes in the environment, but new life forms arise to take their place and the “beat goes on”. Think before you vote!

But >99% of dead life is et by, and therefore turned into, other forms of life.

      He’s so…speciesist!

Set for release 2 during the week in June – let’s hope we’re all out of lockdown by then and ready for a trip to the movie theatre to watch epic disaster movie to cheer us up. Think I’d prefer a comedy.

The Depression spawned the distracting screwball comedy—raucous, focused on class issues and the lives of the rich, featuring witty repartee, conflict ending in romance, and also in the end, some thread of wisdom or at least intelligence.

But our lives of even more grotesque inequality than in the 1930s, sandwiched between the first plague of the Holocene and the hard deadline our pathological procrastination of climate action is bringing us to, may not allow any but the most disconnected popular arts.

I hope our monstrously warped, consciousness-phobic society will be able to rise above Joe Dirt 4 and Jackass 7, obsession with catching criminals displaced from our refusal to recognize the criminality running through our society from leaders to grunts, and violent gore split between the imperial hagiography of Seal Team 6 and the cold machine brutality of CSI.

Prediction—-this movie is NOT going to set any attendance records on opening day, not in the USA.
