New Video: Australia’s Fires are a Global Wake Up Call
January 17, 2020
Those refugees on the beach are rich white folks, folks.
I spoke to University of Melbourne scientist Linden Ashcroft PhD for an overview. This event seems historic to me, and I suspect I will have several more vids on this.

That is so good, Peter. You’ve captured what is happening extremely well.

An excellent and accurate video. Thanks Peter.
It desperately needs a wider audience than the folks that read Crocks. May I suggest that everyone here send it on to all their friends – and so on. ASAP
Thanks all

Thanks for a masterfully produced informative video, a collection of associated snapshots, focusing on the historic point we reside in.
No more places for deniers in future governments – may universal sense prevail across every nation.

We have seen the headlines: “Australia is burning,” “Australia is on fire,” even, “Australia is committing climate suicide.” We have seen the photos: a fire tornado, evacuated townsfolk sheltering on a beach, kangaroos leaping for their lives, flames turning forests incandescent, cockatoos dropping dead out of scorching skies. And now the disaster is above our heads, eerily present though 1,400 miles away. It used to be that the symbol of climate change in the South Pacific was a drowning atoll; now it’s a burning continent.

“Kangaroo Island in South Australia has been likened to a Noah’s Ark for its unique ecology. But after fierce bushfires tore through the island this week, there are fears it may never fully recover.

“Hundreds of thousands of fish dead in NSW as bushfire ash washed into river
Hundreds of thousands of native fish are estimated to have died in northern New South Wales after rains washed ash and sludge from bushfires into the Macleay River.
Parts of the Macleay River – favoured by recreational fishers – have been turned into what locals described as “runny cake mix” that stank of rotting vegetation and dead fish.
One freshwater ecologist told Guardian Australia the impact of the fish kill might be felt for decades to come, with long-lived species like Australian bass hit hard.

Our guide in a 2002 winter visit to Kangaroo Island said we lucked out in being able to see such a great variety of iconic animals (kangaroos, including a bull kangaroo ducking under a fence, two koala mums with joeys, wallabies, Australian sea lions, wedge-tailed eagles, and even an echidna). The thought of the devastation just there has me tearing up.

To belabor the point, these are rich white folks who speak English ( sorta ), and it is against the Laws of Civilization for this to happen in such a country!
A big enough wake up call that some minds will be changed, others will be shut up, for awhile anyway.

Peter Hadfield just published a new video:
The cause of Australia’s bushfires – what the SCIENCE says

Here’s Sir Clucky, again posting the generic graphs without comment.
Here’s Clucky, again being “Mr. Helpful” and posting something that adds little to the discussion.
In case you were wondering why he does this so often, it’s an attempt to show what a “concerned environmentalist” he is and restore some credibility after his last whipping when his Russian troll job got out of hand and he embarrassed himself.
Watch for the pattern—-he has repeated it at least three times now:
1) Clucky overdoes the anti-Americanism and Russian troll business, and
2) Gets taken to task for that
3) Responds with vicious personal attacks—-name-calling and childishness
4) Gets himself torn a new “arsehole”
5) After either sobering up or being told by his Russian trollmasters to knock it off,
6) Clucky goes silent for a while in hopes that we will forget
7) Clucky then comes back with an avalanche of “good” stuff to drown out the trolling and show what a wonderful asset he is to Crock
He thinks we will forget what a waste he is and accept him back into the fold here—he would be better off spending his time trolling some other site, although I guess it IS food that we who get his “game” keep him occupied here rather than have him working on dumber people.

With due respect it is actually an excellent video by Potholer 54 – A Geologist/Journalist that refuses to proffer his own opinions outside of Geology instead referring to the science.
He has many excellent video’s – all based on the science.
May I suggest actually watch the whole video all the way through
January 20, 2020 at 10:08 am
I did watch the video all the way through and it’s an excellent job by Potholer—especially for those who are less well-informed on the science. What I DID learn more about from it was the sad state of the “debate” in AUS and what complete morons and fools the politicians are there. If things were that bad here in the USA, our political fools and morons would do a better job than Morrison et al.
(And I love Potholer’s sense of humor)
You misunderstood my point—-what I was saying was not that the video was useless but that Sir Clucky’s posting of random videos was simply the work of a dishonest troll, not something meant to help educate. In his case, it’s like a dumb and demented blind squirrel occasionally finding a nut when he posts something as good as Potholer’s work.

FWIW, he will always be Potholer 54 to me. I’ve been loving on him since back when he started getting involved with the creation/evolution fight.
