While Mercury is much closer to the Sun than Venus, Venus is much hotter. Why? CO2 and “the Greenhouse effect”.

While an atmosphere with a tiny amount of CO2 prevents the Earth from going through roller-coaster temperature changes like we see on our moon (obviously both are the same distance from the Sun), too much CO2 would make Earth more “Venus like”

  I think you should be judicious with the “more “Venus like”” because Earth’s troposphere has 255-217=38 degrees left maximum total “Greenhouse effect” because Earth’s troposphere is a lot smaller than Venus’ troposphere.

    I’m thinking that my 255-217=38 degrees left maximum S.B. total 255-207=48 degrees left maximum total but I’ve come across some varied science for that, so some uncertainty.
