Reposting: Not-so Breitbart Unhappy with Climate Video

December 23, 2019

From January 2016 – an innocent time when we did not understand the depth of the climate denial industry’s hostility to democracy, and compromise by an international criminal gang of oligarchs based in Russia…

One of climate denialdom’s most deranged and angry voices kind of hates my new video.

Jame’s Delingpole, seen below, whose motto is “I’m evil and right about everything.”(sorry Jimmy, only half right..) – deals in a very special kind of blissfully clueless, fact free invective that climate deniers love because it requires no thought or knowledge whatever.

In fact, Delingpole brags that he never takes time to look at tedious science. He’s too busy with other things.

Above, James Delingpole is asked a question. Implodes. He later complained he was “intellectually  raped”.

But he is on to me, and calls me out for my malevolent practice of seeming “measured and reasonable”.

Ok, Jimmy, you got me.

James Delingpole in Breitbart:

The climate alarmists have come up with a brilliant new excuse to explain why there has been no “global warming” for nearly 19 years.
Turns out the satellite data is lying.

And to prove it they’ve come up with a glossy new video starring such entirely trustworthy and not at all biased climate experts as Michael “Hockey Stick” Mann, Kevin “Travesty” Trenberth, and Ben Santer. (All of these paragons of scientific rectitude feature heavily in the Climategate emails)

The video is well produced and cleverly constructed – designed to look measured and reasonable rather than yet another shoddy hit job in the ongoing climate wars.

  1. About that Delingpole video:

    Video unavailable
This video contains content from BBC Studios, who has blocked it on copyright grounds.

I didn’t know the BBC was hosting Breitbart. Seems odd.

Both sides on this posting seem to be ignoring the actual science going in for personal attacks and outright lies and distortions. Why not look up actual data from actual sources like say NOAA or NASA on the subject instead. We can than explain to each other what that data means or does not mean on climate. Here is an example
If the data is real, it was much warmer for at least 2000 years on average than it has been in the last 1000 years on average. That has to have a cause which is not short term.

Oh for Pete’s sake. Do we really have to put up with this 20 year old nonsense until all the right wing codgers die off? Because the existence of climate catastrophe has become accepted by so many forced to actually look at and accept the relevant facts, the regular lunatic right wing has moved on from outright denial of the existence of climate catastrophe to denial of the direness and solutions. Still denial, still irrational and destructive, but at least moving in the direction. Many people, however—as happens in every generation—have gotten stuck at an earlier stage of their development, and for some, that stage is the emergence of the will at 2 and the outright denial that what’s happening is happening.

Here’s a quick version of degunkment of a bit of that nonsense; a slow but direct version follows if the links work. (More than the allowable 2 links so it will appear after this discussion is over.)

Some people persist in disunderstanding facts; for example, presenting local weather in an argument about global climate, and utterly refusing to know the difference. But winter has warmed more than summer, one data set from one area does not show the average global temp., and stopping just as the worst warming shows—2000 on, in the part of the graph containing 18 of the 19 hottest years on record—doesn’t help the discussion, or the mental state of the denying delayalist. Both need attention.

@J4Zonian: Great news finally. That link notes “This paper should finally stop climate change deniers claiming that the recent observed coherent global warming is part of a natural climate cycle”. Now I don’t know about the rest of you because I’ve noted some tendency to unseemly sarcasm and cynicism within you, but I’m quietly confident at this stage upon reading that, and especially quietly confident about “terry123a” entity. I frankly can’t recall ever being this quietly confident before.

Some of the links I was going to include would cause formatting problems here so I’ll just leave you with the one above.
