Trumpists All in on Greenland
August 22, 2019

The deficit is soaring, White Supremacist shooters are terrorizing malls, the Amazon is burning, US Farmers are losing markets and livelihoods, climate change is threatening a global extinction, but it’s all good.
Fundraising tee-shirts from the Republican Party are now showing Greenland as part of the US.
If they ever find out that Greenlanders are 88% Inuit or Inuit-mix and only 12% European, are used to single payer healthcare and free University – we can expect calls for a wall in the North Atlantic, paid for by Denmark.
And yet, climate deniers get so huffy when you point out they are ignorant and split off from reality…

UPDATE: you think they’re not serious?

This line:
If they ever find out that Greenlanders are 88% Inuit or Inuit-mix and only 12% European, are used to single payer healthcare and free University – we can expect calls for a wall in the North Atlantic, paid for by Denmark.
Is gold.

It doesn’t get any crazier than this! You could not come up with a more insane script for the movie or TV show titled “The Tantrums of Baby Trump” than this episode in which Baby Trump wants a new toy and is having a hissy fit because the grownups think it’s “absurd”.
The Repugnants are actually making T-shirts that show Greenland as part of the U.S.? They HAVE lost their collective minds. Anyone who votes for a Republican at any level is Un-American at best, a traitor at worst.

Sure. I don’t own it. It’s the best I can figure about the guy, but it’s echoed by many others:
https://www.newsweek.com/trump-mental-illness-king-israel-msnbc-1455644
“He doesn’t really love anyone except himself. That’s not a slur, that’s a psychological fact. People like him are about him. If he’s not useful to him, he stops loving him. That’s part of the essential emptiness of Donald Trump.”

More and more our president is reminding me of Dudley Dursley! (If unfamiliar with him, he is Harry Potter’s spoiled cousin.)

As time goes on, it becomes obvious that Trump has few of his own ideas. Most of them come from somewhere else. He doesn’t have a basic grounding on most issues, and as long as it appeals to his ego, practically any proposal sounds great to him. For instance, Ivanka pitched him on having a big Rose Garden ceremony announcing more background checks on gun purchases. He was all in. Then he called the NRA and decided he didn’t like the idea after all.
Apparently, the Greenland idea came from Sen. Tom Cotton:

Cotton has a 2% lifetime rating at the League of Conservation Voters. Here’s his take on climate change:

jimbills – I love your synopsis, “He doesn’t have a basic grounding on most issues, and as long as it appeals to his ego, practically any proposal sounds great to him.” May I use it?

Trumpists don’t acknowledge science.

Meanwhile, the US is set to drown the world in oil.

The question, when il Drumpfe der Gropenführer spews this sort of thing, should always be “What’s going on behind it that’s not being reported because everyone is focused on the flailing of a failing mind?” Whether other Republicans are teeing him up so they can steal the store and cancel the Constitution, or they’re just taking advantage of the near-constant cover he provides, he’s still mentally ill and we’re failing to provide protection for the US and the world by not removing him from office.
Of course, the other Republicans are mentally ill, too, but not as openly, and that’s what’s failing to be covered by the collaborating corporate press. We need to address all the layers of defense the system has, and that means pointing it out every chance we get–Republicans, corporate Democrats acting as a buffer and pressure valve, complicit corporate media, and all the other parts.

I have discovered something salutary in Trump’s proposal: He is actually offering to pay for it in a freely entered into transaction. That’s in sharp distinction to how most conquests of territory have taken place historically.

Trump thinks a trade war is easy to win. He thinks the rest of the world is being unfair to America by selling manufactures into the US cheaply in exchange for pieces of paper known as dollars, resulting in a trade deficit. He thinks that other countries are enriching themselves by offering cheap goods because they are subsidizing such goods, and that they pay for those subsidies with money from America’s piggy bank, and that tariffs cost nobody but bring in billions in revenue for Uncle Sam. To hear Trump, you’d think the way to prosperity is to simply levy 1000% tariffs on all imports.
On top of that, he thinks he understands economics better than anyone.
“N o t g r o u n d e d.” Got to be the understatement of the century.
