Is this a stand up comedy routine? This guy lacks any sort of grounding in reality! No unusual in the finance community.
A global economy 2.5x bigger than it is now by 2050. The sooner fairy dust is able to be converted to usable energy, the better!

Technically, it is possible to get economic growth without using up more resourcee, since technologically-based efficiencies can improve the value or lower the cost of production.
Two major examples during my lifetime:
(1) Switching from hand-labeled and -managed inventory to SKU-based labeling reduces the labor required to bring products to people.
(2) Switching from lading of irregularly packaged and labeled cargo (think barrels, crates, and palettes of bulk material in sacks) to standardized containers has simplified and sped up shipping immensely (and reduced “shrinkage” at ports).
As for “2.5x bigger”, that sounds…optimistic. Still, cell phones have penetrated a lot of the developing world, introducing people who rarely travel more than 10 miles from their village to an international market, creating a lot of potential for increased prosperity.
