It’s good that climate change is gaining some traction with all the late night folks, but my local news is still going yada-yada about just the weather and all the human interest stories around it—-cops helping the homeless, do-gooders passing out blankets, buses being used as temporary shelters, how fast your lungs will freeze if you take a deep breath. etc.. The “polar vortex” is mentioned only in the context that it’s the cold air descending on us, WITHOUT any explanation or attempt to educate the public about WHY. The same goes for heat waves and massive downpours in other seasons.
What is corporate media afraid of? Or who has bought them off?
I mean. It has become a habit over the decades to please organised climate change denial as being a part of the system. That’s what most corporate media are working for. Don’t Mention The Emergency? Not before all others do so as well.
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) says U.S. Department of Transportation officials censored parts of a letter sent to him in response to his inquiry about how climate change may affect highways in his state. He says the letter, written by an agency staff member, was altered by Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao’s office for political reasons, omitting the terms “climate change” and changing “sea level rise” to “sea level variations.”
Big fossil fuels? That’s the simple answer. It’s the plutocracy—-the modern day robber barons—-and they have their hands in many more things than just fossil fuels. Read Dark Money, The Wrecking Crew, American Amnesia—-it’s been going downhill ever since the rich anti-government folks bought the Repugnant Party 40+ years ago
Not much difference. Here in the U.S. it seems having $$$$ first rather than group affiliation is the key factor, so pluto- might be the best fit. IMO, oligarchs start out as a small group who first seize power, then use that to get rich.(like Putin and his buddies)
Heat and drought extremes are consistent with scientific consensus: More greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere bring a greater likelihood of abnormally high temperatures. Also, broadly speaking, scientists say, a hotter planet makes extreme weather more frequent and more intense.

👍
On Faux News… “Global warming is real” … “We’re facing catastrophe if we don’t act immediately”… “We’re in a climate crisis!”
OK. It was just a dream.

Is it climate change?
