Trump Admin Draws Laughter, Jeers, for Climate Denial
December 16, 2018
The Arctic Report card, an annual review of northern polar changes by NOAA scientists, comes out at the AGU Fall Meeting each year.
This year, as the increasingly dire observations were being outlined, the Administration’s representatives were at the COP meeting in Poland describing how they plan to make it worse.
As the US joined with the Saudis and Russians in sabotaging global cooperation, those in attendance were not amused.

Yes, a laugh a minute from the coal folks. Here’s an even bigger side-splitter.
Has everyone heard that they’re trying to come up with a new name for coal? Yep, it has gotten such bad press under the “old” name (coal = dirty, planet-killing stuff that needs to be left in the ground) that they are trying to come up with a snappy new name to build a PR campaign around.

I thought I also saw somewhere that they wish coal would be a more “friendly” color than black, and may try to do something about that as well—that may have been a joke.
And did everyone catch the irony of holding COP 24 in the coal-mining capital of one of the countries most dependent on coal? Poland has 40 million people and ~100,000 coal dependent jobs. The USA, with over 8 times the population, has less than twice that number of coal-dependent jobs.
