Trump’s Ambassador to Canada an Embarrassment on Climate
December 7, 2018
The new U.S. ambassador to Canada says that when it comes to climate change she believes in “both sides of the science.”
Kelly Craft, who took up her position Monday, told the CBC’s Rosemary Barton she appreciated all of the scientific evidence on climate change.
“I think that both sides have their own results, from their studies, and I appreciate and I respect both sides of the science,” Craft told Barton.
She also said that while U.S. President Donald Trump’s approach to climate change is different from the government of Canada’s, both the U.S. and Canada have the same goal: to “better our environment and to maintain the environment.”
Craft said the U.S. can still fight climate change even though her country has signalled it will leave the Paris climate change accord.

Lord love a duck! Just like DJT, Knight Craft has been married three times and divorced twice. She wed Joe Craft in April 2016. Craft’s husband is a billionaire coal-mining executive for Alliance Resource Partners, L.P., the third-largest coal producer in the eastern United States.
In 2016, Knight Craft and her husband donated millions of dollars to candidates for the 2016 Republican nomination for president, including more than $2 million to Donald Trump’s campaign. Her comments here show an ignorance of science as complete as her boss’s. See any pattern here? Does Betsy DeVos come to mind?
To continue his “streak” of preferring blondes in many ways, Trump’s nominee for UN ambassador is Heather Nauert, a former Fox Newsie who has next to no government or foreign policy experience. Her only qualification (besides being blonde) seems to be that she has been publicly “loyal” to Trump. God forbid that he would ever put someone in the post that disagreed with him (as Haley did).

She believes “both sides” of the science?
I’ll bet that she believes that floor wax can also be a delicious dessert topping.

So what are the “both sides” to the FACT that CO2 traps heat? Not sure how you can both sides that?!?! Im sort of partial to the 2 sides theory on 2+2=4 there are 2 sides!

Very simply put the public political debate is between the science and the fiction.
Large parts of the English speaking world are now enjoying a fact-free lifestyle.
The good ambassador wants to please with belief. In an age where the medium is the message, the rise of media fiction as both religion and worldview is a noticeable feature.
Whole sections of the population are wondering around with complete fiction as their worldview.
In the cartoons, people don’t fall when they walk off a cliff until they notice and then they fall. That is the world of our politics.
Because of the use of energy, weather is no longer lethal much of the time. An Australian politician was quoted as saying that coal stops climate change.
Now that is understandable though the fiction that weather is climate and a hot day is cured by aircon. He believes in aircon that will save the world.
Politics is now a cartoon in the English speaking world.

Oh Lord ! She states that there are two sides and they are both justified, and efforts to stop Climate Change are being achieved anyhow. She obviously doesn’t want to hear the words from You-Know-Who “You’re Fired”.
Please don’t let it come to airplanes filling up the atmosphere with yet more junk in a desperate effort to lower temperatures. Do we really want to doom future generations with a badly engineered Earth, where man thinks he knows better than nature.
For decades, scientists and policymakers have framed the climate-policy debate in a simple way: scientists analyse long-term goals, and policymakers pretend to honour them. Those days are over. Serious climate policy must focus more on the near-term and on feasibility. It must consider the full range of options, even though some are uncomfortable and freighted with risk.

Arghhh. Of course Canada’s government will gently disagree– while subsidizing new bitumen pipelines; who can we vote for, when the greens have no path to power, the Liberals are trying to have it both ways (more oil but — always inadequate — climate ‘action’) and the Conservatives_tm are attacking carbon taxes (as if there were no such thing as externalities in their rosy view of fossil fuel economics). The NDP say they will do more, but as an Albertan, I find that hard to believe: after four years of NDP government here, they’ve been co-opted by the industry as they try to compete with a radical, burn-it-all “Conservative” party promising bitumen forever.

Do you know this Albertan lady who got fracked? The corruption doesn’t stop at the courts.

This interview is three years old:
Jessica Ernst, who worked as an oil patch consultant for more than three decades, alleges that EnCana broke multiple provincial laws and regulations and contaminated a shallow aquifer with natural gas and toxic industry-related chemicals.
After three decades as a consultant to the oil industry, Jessica Ernst decided to sue her biggest client, Encana, which is also Canada’s largest producer of natural gas. She is also suing the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Alberta government.
It concerns fracking – or hydraulic fracturing – where large volumes of water, sand and chemicals are used to blast open the earth and extract resources…in this case, natural gas. Ms. Ernst alleges fracking has contaminated the aquifer that supplies water to her community and home in Rosebud, about a hundred kilometres east of Calgary. Encana denies her allegation.
The anti-fracking movement has been growing over the years, due to concerns about its environmental impact. Industry officials have countered with ad campaigns and assurances that fracking is safe. At the same time, they have quietly reached out-of- court settlements with citizens who have sued.
Jessica Ernst won’t settle. She says she’s in it for the long haul, until a judge renders a final decision. It’s been eight years so far and the next stop is the Supreme Court of Canada, in January.
Guest host Francine Pelletier spoke with Ms. Ernst in Calgary, and with her lawyer, Murray Klippenstein, in Toronto.

Bernard McNamee, a climate change denier who helped write the Trump administration’s failed coal and nuclear bailout plan, was confirmed Thursday as a commissioner on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
The Senate approved the nominee on a straight party-line vote of 50-49 after Sen. Joe Manchin, the pro-coal Democrat of West Virginia, withdrew his support due to his concerns about McNamee’s stance on climate change

Of course there are two sides to the scientific debate! Tim Eagan covered it well in a cartoon back in 2011:

The debate is like-a-turkey vs. like-a-jiffy-pop.
