Some great advice there – I kind of did this, and now get around on a solar charged ebike which is virtually free to run:

I hope you wear a helmet, unlike this moron in Longmont. Longmont is an old cow town that has been rather “californicated” by hippie-dippies moving in. There are still enough cowboys (and even Indians) around that he should be more careful on the streets.

Yes I do wear a helmet most times such as a long run or commute through the city, but not if I’m just going down to the banks of the Danube for a coffee half a mile away.

Have fully recovered new from a broken pelvis and collar bone after a right hook from a taxi last year which laid me out for 3 months. Don’t want to go through that again!
Pity that compensation here is virtually nothing compared to the US!

Life is so much better with a tired old house and no debts. Still have a car, but it is 9 years old and I see no reason it won’t last another 9 years.

Uber would be cheaper than a newer car and you would think twice about calling for an uber for short runs.

Less stuff, means less cleaning. Getting rid of stuff is an effort I do not want to repeat so a I am much more cautious with what I buy. Never did cull the the library, except for the encyclopedias.

Debt free, with money in the bank, is so much better than a brand new car.
