New Video: Wind Energy Rescues Rural Economies
March 6, 2018
Have been spending a lot of time in Michigan’s wind farms – the largest one in the state, just 20 miles from me, is one of the most successful and well received in the country.
All across the Heartland, hard hit rural communities have been boosted by clean renewable energy development in the form of wind. Naturally the Koch brothers team is hard at work to stop America from moving into the 21st century. Their efforts will no longer go unopposed.
Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, overwhelming support for wind energy.
A new survey from SoonerPoll has revealed that Oklahomans are overwhelmingly in support of the 2 gigawatt Wind Catcher Energy Connection set to be developed Invenergy and GE Renewable Energy.
Announced back in July of 2017, the 2 gigawatt (GW) Wind Catcher wind farm is set to become the world’s second largest, and the United States’ largest onshore wind farm, once completed. It is being jointly developed by Invenergy and GE Renewable Energy with a $4.5 billion investment from American Electric Power. The project will consist of 800 GE 2.5 megawatt wind turbines and eventually link 1.1 million South Central US customers across a network with clean wind energy.
And, according to a new study conducted by SoonerPoll, Oklahoma’s only independent, non-partisan public opinion pollster, an overwhelming majority of 75.5% of Oklahomans support the project. Of that support, 45% “strongly supported” the project and 30.5% “somewhat supported” it.
The poll showed that support for Wind Catcher was spread broadly across all ages, geographical location, political parties and ideological viewpoints, and both men and women. Support also existed both inside and out of the Public Service of Oklahoma (PSO) service area which will primarily benefit from the renewable energy.
Further, the poll showed that 78% of Oklahomans support the development of more wind and other renewable energy sources across Oklahoma, a vitally important figure for Oklahoma’s renewable energy industry.
Also, Solar on the way.

Great video Peter, I hope you managed to get an invite to climb one!
I would seriously live in one if there were room for an apartment.

Yep, a great video that shows a bit of “positivity” and hope for the future. As for living in/on one, now THAT’s silly!

This may explain much of the influence that the world faces

Well. You’ve got to pay for decent conspiracy theories. Else they won’t work properly 😉

AURGH! I’m sure I lost at least one IQ point for every minute that I watched that video. Must cleanse my brain with alcohol….

The thing is note the use out there in the Trumposphere calling Hilary Jezebel etc, the almost worship of Trump.
Note the audience and their slavish belief and agreeance
Against such true believers reason and evidence and facts count for nothing.
I have read reports of how the true believers are pumping everything into the stockmarket as they believe that under Trump it will keep rising, a dip as recently and they just pump in more.
Even Weather Disasters as we have had are Gods Judgement on the sinners , nothing to do with any activity of man.
The thing is this Video was just one of a countless number (Actually popped up as next to play when I played the Video in the article, so watched to see where their heads are at)

Can’t you people see that industrial wind power is the environmental equivalent of trying to prevent arson with vandalism? The world is getting uglier and noisier as it continues to warm because the root causes of overpopulation and growthism are being pushed even further by absurd levels of industrial sprawl. Nothing else has visually spoiled so many nice areas like wind power. It’s almost as if wind machines were destined to ruin the areas fossil fuel development hadn’t spoiled.
Ruining rural landscapes both visually and audibly, pitting neighbors against each other (one section can host turbine$ while an adjacent one gets nothing but noisy blight) is not “good” for rural areas. What sort of sick environmentalist would be proud of machine-filled horizons and brag about “installed gigawatts.”
But wind power doesn’t even work very well. Its capacity is overstated out of the gate by assuming the wind blows most of the time. It has failed to actually reduce carbon emissions in Germany’s vast experiment, and it kills more bats than any other technology. Bird deaths are surely under-reported by industry counters who can’t possibly find all the corpses, even if they wanted to. It’s bad enough that anything ‘green” is causing wildlife carnage at any level, and phony “green” men are doing nothing but excusing it.

Blogs like this (and CleanTechnica) feel obliged to say nothing bad about these expanding eyesores. The new environmentalism has no soul, just blind zeal against all that is carbon, even though wind turbines can’t be built without it! Have a look at these construction photos:

green!)

your alternative kind of sucks, and belies your commitment to “beauty”.

But thanks for playing.

A bit more “ugly and noisy” may not be the greatest thing, but it’s far preferable to SLR, heat waves, droughts, runaway wild fires, 50 inch downpours, four nor’easters in 2 weeks, etc. Do wind turbines cause any of those things?
A question for Aussies—-heat waves have killed tens of thousands of flying foxes on more than one occasion over the past few years—-how many (if any) have been killed by wind turbines?
