Like Peas and Carrots: Climate Deniers, Holocaust Deniers

October 16, 2017

Friend-of-Putin Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) is not just a climate denier (above), he’s (below) bestest buds with holocaust deniers.
As Rocky said, “hang around with yoyo people you get yoyo friends. It’s mathematics.”

Forward:

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher brought a Holocaust denier to a meeting last week with Sen. Rand Paul to discuss Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, the Daily Caller reported.

The publication noted that Rohrabacher, a California Republican, “brought along top aide Paul Behrends and conservative journalist Charles C. Johnson.”

Johnson, an internet troll and vocal “alt-right” defender, is well-known for false attacks against political rivals, both on the Democratic side and within the Republican Party.

He is also a Holocaust denier. In a since-deleted Reddit discussion, Johnson argued that the number of Jews killed in the camps was around 250,000, not six million, and questioned the existence of gas chambers. And while stating in the post that he is not a Holocaust denier, he wrote: “I agree with David Cole about Auschwitz and the gas chambers not being real. Why were their swimming pools there if it was a death camp?”

Daily Beast:

Right-wing troll Charles Johnson donated the maximum legal amount to the campaign of Rep. Dana Rohrabacher last month, after Johnson set up a meeting between the California Republican and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Johnson donated $5,400 in Bitcoin to Rohrabacher’s campaign, according to a new filing with the Federal Election Commission, which listed Johnson’s occupation as “investor.” He confirmed the donations in a text message with The Daily Beast, adding, “I’m rich now.”

The California-based writer reportedly arranged for and attended a meeting between Rohrabacher and Assange that took place in August. The two reportedly discussed Clinton campaign emails released to WikiLeaks, allegedly as part of a Russian government plot to influence the 2016 election. Rohrabacher returned from the meeting with assurances from Assange that the Russians were not, in fact, the source of the emails.

This is typical of the left attacks which are no more factual than the rights attacks. The Johnson guy is typical of those who make a living with gory headlines, the NYT does the same thing. All those super market tabloids do the same thing as well. The doom and gloom people on climate do it all the time, Borenstein is an example. To set up a meeting with the wiki leaks guy is not something that is illegal or suspect or anything else. wiki leaks is the source of a lot of the Hillary reveals and other reveals of what some want to keep secret from the voters. Like everything else in life, you need to try and see if a claim is resonable by checking with other sources. If you insist on believing witch doctors of the left or right claims without checking the claim out for both facts and reasonableness , you will get only voodoo, voodoo like this story.

Wiki leaks is only threatening if you are afraid to learn the truth about your own government.

The other guy, Paul Behrends , is actually more interesting, Apparently he has been pointing out most of the anti russian BS is exactly BS. Perhaps that will result in a more balanced look at the russian US relations in syria and elsewhere.

Jerry, there’s an error in your programming.

I don;t think wikileaks is the point here.

The point is that Republican Congressmen and Senators are courting powerful figures in the alt-right. A creature like Johnson as a player in the halls of Congress gives me a queasy feeling, and it should do the same to you.

      • Jerry Falwel Says:

Johnston is no more a player in the halls of Congress than certain others of the left. If you want a queasy feeling look at the republican and democrat congressmen and women and the senators who are both very rich and have a screw loose in their heads. I do not equate Trump with God or being the savior. Trump has plenty of faults, trying to destroy the USA is not one of them unlike say Hillary whose only real ambition is power and money in no particular order. I bet that is the major reason Bill in his younger days strayed.

As to the alt right that is a figment of the establishment press. Most voters want peace, security, a good job and a government which is working. The alt right is just like the BLM and the communists over in Berkeley, a tiny minority of wackos who enjoy outsized attention in the press as that sells the news.

This video is a perfect example of why we alarmists need to continue to shut down debate and to continue to insist that “the science is settled, we win, you lose”.

When we allow debate like this we alarmists lose…period…even when we use our Big-Guns like Dick Alley who knows everything there is to know.

Impressive how smoothly you can transition to a glib personae of someone who actually cares about global warming, even when there is no rhetorical or ironic reason to do so.

Lying comes so easily to you you don’t even notice the impression you make. Which is not just someone who is dishonest, but someone who is boring as hell.

  4. mboli Says:

The video seems unconnected to the article except for the presence of Rep. Rohrabacher.
The video is a bit scary however. It is a mistake to call the deniers ignorant. They are like the creationists. There are people hard at work going through the literature vacuuming up facts that seem to support their points, which are easy to blast out there but are refutable only by somebody who a) knows those facts, b) know how they fit in the bigger complex picture (which points in the other direction), c) has the time and ability to explain it.

Climate denial is rewarding (fossil $$$), but one of the major downsides is having to appear next to holocaust deniers, flying saucer conspiracists, and others of questionable sanity. I guess when you open the Pandora’s Box of reality denial, any old thing is liable to fly out and into your face. Example: Potholer54’s new video takes on a recent paper by Nicola Scafetta ‘published’ in one of those new online journals that will publish anything if the price is right. Scafetta’s paper claims that estimates of ECS (equil. climate sensitivity) have been falling the last couple decades (roughly coincident with the era of new online journals that will publish anything if the price is right). Basically, big fossils is paying climate deniers to ‘publish’ non-peer-reviewed articles in these ‘journals’ so people like Scafetta can point to them as ‘new science’.

So, how does Scafetta meet the ‘peas-n-carrots test’ above? Scafetta is one of the denier’s featured in a new book called “Climate Change: The Facts 2017”. Another of those authors is Ken Ring, who once wrote a book called “Pawmistry: How to Read Your Cat’s Paws”. And, there it is: the lunatic always lurking at the fringe of the climate denial spotlight. The vampire bat flying out of Pandora’s Box along with all those parrots willing to tell you what you want to be true.
