Perennial question: Plants eat CO2, people exhale it.
How can it be bad?
NASA answer above.
I treated the question several years ago.

Tells a lot about the education system in the US.

We don’t know why Boehner is spreading lies–whether it’s intentional and he knows they’re lies, or whether he’s ignorant or out of touch with reality in some way. It comes down to the usual question we face dealing with today’s ultra-conservative mainstream conservatives, and especially when dealing with denying delayalists:
Lying, stupid or crazy?
In the end, of course, the answer is: All 3.
One would have to be both crazy and stupid to lie about such a dire human crisis that threatens us all. To not accept the overwhelming science at this point one must be lying either to oneself or others; to lie to oneself on such a scale is a clear sign of serious psychological problems and to lie to others on this is, again, both crazy and stupid. And so on.
So seeing Boehner say this may indicate an educational problem. But to see that many, many people believe or are confused by it certainly shows a serious problem, with education, yes, but even more important, with the culturally-caused emotional health crisis of the US, UK and Australian populations.

Yep, but don’t forget the fourth leg holding up the table of denialism—-the Wetiko—-alive and thriving in the Republican Party, President Pussy Grabber, the corporatocracy, and the 1%.

“Tells a lot” about the education system Sir Charles was exposed to that he would make such an “uneducated” comment.

BFD!
Charles is “educated” enough to google not one but TWO irrelevant references that have nothing to do with “the education system in the U.S.”, once again raising questions about the system HE was educated under.
The whole freaking WORLD and all of human society is an oligarchical-capitalistic system that began in its present form centuries ago in Europe and was spread around the world by the colonial powers and later by corporations and plutocrats.
The U.S. has NEVER been a true democracy, but rather a republic, and you can ask Rousseau—– “a true democracy has never existed and never will exist; for it is against the natural order of things that the majority should govern the minority,” he contends that, with the possible exception of ancient Athens, the cantons of Switzerland, and the early New England villages, “men have never experienced anything near genuine political democracy. What we have had are republics, and they have usually disintegrated into some form of benign, elective monarchy or oligarchy”.
Gratuitous bashing of the “American education system” IS “uneducated”, and the 8 people that gave thumbs up to Sir Charles’ original comment are no better educated than he is.

Before the industrial age introduced machines like locomotives which (put very simply) convert oxygen (O2) into carbon dioxide (CO2), animal-plant life on our planet was in a much better balance. If increased CO2 levels somehow triggered the production of more O2 then you could say that the planet is still in balance. But this chart of falling O2 levels proves it is not:
http://scrippso2.ucsd.edu/
So on one hand the chart showing the rise of CO2 sends a signal to humanity that something dangerous is happening:

But the chart showing falling O2 levels is confirmation of that danger signal. Perhaps climate deniers think that O2 levels are higher at the bottom of the ostrich holes

I just tell such people, “If you eat fossil fuels, then, yes, your bodily CO2 is part of the problem. Of course, in that case, your bodily CO2 is the least of your problems.”
