  1. Tom Bates Says:

Suggests the current temperatures are a product of the El Nino which is going away.

Will Bates ever go away and stop spouting the bullshit he gathers from denialists? The GWPF (Global Warming Policy Foundation) is another sham group.

According to Benny Peiser, director of the GWPF, “We are certainly not taking a critical stance on the basic science of the greenhouse effect or the fact that CO2 emissions in the atmosphere are having an effect on the climate.” He said the foundation exists to help restore a less “hysterical” and “emotional” debate on the subject and promote what he calls a more “flexible and long-term approach” to the problem. [8]

The following are excerpts from a 2015 GWPF “Report” on Climate Change by Andrew Montford:

“Policies to ‘stop climate change’ are based on climate models that completely failed to predict the lack of warming for the past two decades. Observational data show clearly that the predictions of unacceptable warming caused by more carbon dioxide are wrong. Economic discount rates aside, policies designed to save the planet from more carbon dioxide are based on failed computer models.

[…] Human emissions of carbon dioxide, a transparent, odorless, non-toxic gas, essential for plant growth and contained at about 40,000 parts per million (ppm) in our own breaths. Carbon dioxide has been mercilessly demonized as ‘carbon pollution’, when in fact it is a benefit to the planet. Agricultural production has increased substantially and the Earth is greener today with the 400 ppm current levels of carbon dioxide than it was with preindustrial levels of about 280 ppm. And two or three times higher levels would be even better. [9]

Does that sound like the stuff Bates parrots endlessly? (and the sheer stupidity of “Suggests the current temperatures are a product of the El Nino which is going away” suggests that Bates would sound stupid no matter how brief his comments).

Yep, that works. And that BS about “Carbon dioxide has been mercilessly demonized as ‘carbon pollution’, when in fact it is a benefit to the planet” (which is straight out of the Idso and Heartland handbook of BS for deniers), makes me think of this:

          Grossly Witless Pandering Fabrication Society.

@Tom Bates hey is your first name actually Mark? Because you sure act like one.

  2. dumboldguy Says:

Have tried to make other comments, but they disappear into the ether. Has Bates somehow hacked WordPress and Crock so that only replies to him are accepted?

    • redskylite Says:

That’s happened to me before (recently), not surprised if some of our comments are intercepted and suppressed. It is a weighty subject, it shouldn’t be because it is very straightforward, but it is.

      • redskylite Says:

Is Bates even a real person or just an employed troll ? – he tows the detested denial line (gwpf) and seems part of the manufactured nonsense machine that we waste so much of our valuable time on. I preferred Omni at least he attached links (often in Italian) and tried to make a valid argument. He wasn’t a robotic dull troll like Bates. And he claimed to have donated to Dark Snow.

Somewhere around +1.05 from 1880-1900 probably, once it settles down into the regular old +0.165/decade, unless there’s a bit of new feedback started.

  4. Alec Sevins Says:

The word is also getting significantly uglier and noisier for the sake of ineffective “green energy” mega-projects, which draw the same collective shrug of “so what?” from ersatz environmentalists, as long those shat-upon lands are just out of sight and earshot of their daily lives.
