ABC 2010: First They Came for the Climate Scientists

November 21, 2016

Fake News and the “Alt Right” is nothing new to Climate Scientists.
See this 2010 item from ABC News – the same folks celebrating the elevation of Donald Trump and Richard Bannon to the White House have been threatening scientists for most of a decade.

very chilling. Jan 20 is not far away.

  2. “…the same folks celebrating the elevation of Donald Trump and Richard Bannon to the White House have been threatening scientists for most of a decade.”

CORRECTION: It’s STEVE Bannon, not Richard.

  3. Tom Bates Says:

The climate scientists over at NASA and NOAA are mostly political hacks who would not know science if it hit them in the face. NOAA bigwigs issue a climate report than when a whistleblower rats on them to congress refuse to turn over the internal emails which by law they do not own, the government does. That is the leftist idea of science, my way or the highway.

    • Andy Lee Robinson Says:

      Physics, whether thermodynamics or gravity…
You jump off a skyscraper without a parachute, it’s the sidewalk or the highway.

    • Rubbish. Twaddle. Piffle. Arrant nonsense. Lies. Dotty denialism.

    • otter17 Says:

This is what you comment with in response to a story concerning death threats against scientists?

You are the political hack, not the scientists, and no amount of conjuring up myths about NOAA allegedly hiding emails is going to change anything. Lamar Smith can’t just go around demanding other folks’ emails at will for any given accusation he thinks up. We have rules in this country. These protect you, too.

    • Bates, you lying sack of s*&!

When are you going to apologize for the lies you told about the NASA/GISS global temperature work, lies that I debunked with my own raw temperature data analysis?

(Note to others here: that’s a rhetorical question)

    • toddinnorway Says:

So Tom Bates, are you now denying that NASA has sent men to the moon, satellites to orbit all planets, landed mobile units on Mars, etc.? Are you an ALL OUT DENIER? NASA is the only space agency to achieve this, and this cannot be accomplished by political hacks and wannabe scientists. NASA is unexcelled at science despite all its faults and weaknesses.

Peter, it really is time to shut the door on this malignant, poisonous idiot.

    • andrewfez Says:

Tom, do you know what is the biggest hoax being perpetrated against the American people? The hoax that there is a magic sky god that interferes with their lives, who, even though he supposedly invented space-time, General Relativity, Higgs Bosons, Neutron Stars, complex biochemistry and physiology, tensor algebra, and every other intensive governing law or substance in the universe, really likes the smell of ox blood and fat being burnt to pay homage to him, but he doesn’t want you to eat shrimp, and thinks it’s appropriate to stone to death people that work on Sundays.

“NASA and NOAA… would not know science if it hit them in the face” Then do your own Science. You are here representing the wealthiest industry in the history of Capitalism. It makes hundreds of billions of dollars annually in pure profit and ALL of that is in existential threat of disappearing if CC is taken seriously. If NASA is lying, why doesn’t Big Fossils ‘fact check’ their information? I’ll tell you why: because it does. It just doesn’t say so because the last thing it wants is for deniers to know that NASA isn’t lying. So they just stay quiet about it. Hansen published his model in 1981, warning about future warming. Exxon didn’t publish its model in 1979, because it basically just duplicated Hansen’s results, and Exxon doesn’t want to issue any warnings about CC. It’s simple: Big Fossils doesn’t ‘fact check’ the Scientists because either it would be futile to do so cuz they know they are being truthful OR because they HAVE ‘fact checked’ them and don’t want to talk about it.

What is really dangerous about the alt-right is a significant number of them are okay with liberal economic policy, which can lead to authoritarian populism.

    • ubrew12 Says:

Well then maybe they shouldn’t be voting for a Party that will either give 50% of the coming tax cut to the 1% (Trumps plan) or 99% to the 1% (Paul Ryan’s plan). The ‘flyover-state alt-right’ is so angry at the ‘coastal elite’ that they are voting to give the elite a tax cut. Go figure…
