Climate Timeline goes Viral

September 13, 2016

I’ve been bombarded with requests to repost or at least mention a new web-comic from the popular XKCD series depicting earth’s climate timeline over 20,000 years or so.

The original graphic is a bit ponderous to repost in the confines of this WordPress-powered blog, but Aaron Huertas has posted a nice, wonky walk-through.

I was one of the ‘bombarders”. IMO, This time line is one of the best illustrations of the causes of the CO2-temperature hockey stick phenomenon, in that it shows the increase in CO2-temperature appearing after tens of thousands of years of events in human history. The time it takes to scroll down and read it sets one up for a great impact when one gets to the bottom. Here’s a link that will allow you to proceed at your own pace without the “wonky walk through”.

  2. Well, I reposted it … πŸ™‚

But, then, my blot is very mixed in topic and format. Hard to see consistency between The Cannette Blues Band and dynamic linear models.

    Then again, maybe not.

Still, it’s great to promote the XKCD graphic.

  3. Thanks for sharing this Peter.

  4. Be sure to hover your mouse cursor over the graphic on As with many web comics, the mouseover text delivers an extra punchline. πŸ˜‰
