Toughest Anti-Trump Ad Yet

May 2, 2016

Off topic, but sorta not, given the gravity of this election for Climate policy.

Uber Denier Marc Morano told me months ago in an interview, that the outcome of this election was critical from his perspective, and that if the new President was not a Republican, his side will have won a lot of battles but lost the war.  As Mr. Trump tightens his grip on the nomination, I wonder how Climate deniers are taking this?

He’s one of theirs, but maybe his persona is a little bit too revealing of what he, and they, represent.

The ad above is not a bad template for anyone that wants to start drawing on the voluminous archives of incredibly tasteless, dumb, and demeaning Trumpist outtakes.

Below, my interview of a few months ago with Morano, 4 minutes, worth it for his take on Obama and what comes after.

All the other candidates seem hell-bent on pushing around the Russians and fomenting a nuclear war. Trump is the only hope of the USA pulling back on this madness.

Am I more afraid of nuclear war than global warming? Hard to choose. The first is possible but the damage is total. The second is certain but possibly affords us more time before the damage is total. Here’s to hoping Trump will listen to good sense once in office… or that Hillary will be prosecuted before it’s too late.

  2. In Trump….you have a person who has a “decision making process” like this: Fire, Ready, Aim.

Do I want someone for president like Trump…..that doesn’t have a good decision making process? Do I want someone who’s ego won’t allow him to admit when he is wrong?

If someone can’t tell by now that not only is global warming real….but that mankind is burning fossil fuels to cause it…..then what kind of OTHER decisions is he going to make? And if he isn’t going to consult with the brightest minds in climate science when it comes to global warming…..he likely won’t consult the brightest minds when it comes to nuclear war as well.

And what kind of people is Trump going to BE ABLE to surround himself with? Chris Cristy…..Jeff Sessions……Sara Palin? Not exactly mental giants. They are people who have SERIOUS FLAWS in judgment on several fronts.

As an Independent…….this will be the easiest election for me to make a decision of who to vote for…..and it WON’T be Trump.

“Morano told me… if the new President was not a Republican, his side will have won a lot of battles but lost the war. ” Morano’s War is with Physics, something a BA in Political Science wouldn’t understand. If Trump becomes President, I vote Morano to head the “Committee demanding truthiness in all Sciency Stuff and other Dork productions”

  4. Some possible Trump Administration appointments:

    NIH Director: Jenny McCarthy
    NSF Director: Sarah Palin
    NOAA Administrator: Anthony Watts
    NASA Administrator: Alex Jones
White House Science Advisor: “Dr.” Kent Hovind
    Education Secretary: Michelle Bachmann
Interior Secretary: Cliven Bundy (after a presidential pardon)

OK, that’s enough — this just isn’t all that funny…

    • dumboldguy Says:

Sadly, you’re correct. It isn’t all that funny. Neither is today’s editorial cartoon by Tom Toles in the Washington Post, even though it speaks truth.

      And you forgot a few—
White House Press Secretary: Rush Limbaugh
Special Adviser for Women’s Affairs: Anne Coulter
      NIMH Director: Glenn Beck
Court Jesters: Fred Springer and Russell Cook

  5. dumboldguy Says:

Talking about Trump is never off topic, since he is a Republican, and the Republicans are the party that would destroy this planet in the name of free-markets, run-amok capitalism, BAU, and more money in the pockets of the 1%.

Trump is a disgusting pig of a human being, and any party that would nominate him for president deserves to become extinct. This Eldridge ad is typical of what we’re going to see for the rest of the campaign. Any candidate in any but the reddest states who supports Trump or calls himself a Republican is going to be in deep doodoo if Trump is the candidate, and that’s got to be good for Climate Policy.

  6. 1happywoman Says:

DOG, I should feel reassured that you, of all people, are urging me not to be pessimistic. You’re usually the guy calling out the bright-siders. 🙂

I’m not heartened by the article you linked to. It’s dated 2014 and projects that Christie would be the Republican nominee. However good that analysis was two years ago, it’s no good today, because it doesn’t consider Trump.

I believe Trump will do better against Hillary than anybody currently imagines. I believe there are many “closet” Trump supporters who would never openly admit to liking his vision of America and its place in the world because that vision is unacceptable in their social circle.

    I hope I’m wrong.

    • dumboldguy Says:

I picked that link because it popped first and did show nicely how the electoral vote breaks down re: red vs blue states, and that’s still pretty much valid two years later (and as it was for earlier elections). The “swing” states are the problem, and it’s still way too early to see clearly what might happen there. Here’s an update from the same source that puts the Repugnants even deeper in the hole. You can google a lot of other sources that make the race a lot closer, but VERY few have Trump winning.

      http://www.examiner.com/article/new-electoral-college-map-projection-has-clinton-defeating-donald-trump-384-154

Anyone who cares about the future of the planet simply has to be bright-sided about this election. If Trump does win, it will prove that America is indeed an “exceptional” nation—-and that we will cap our short run (~240 years) with the most “exceptional” disaster to befall the planet in recorded history—historically, socially, politically. We will indeed be in the end times if that ignorant and disgusting egomaniacal pig wins.

(And the decline from “exceptionalism” is because the morons are worried more about their “social circles” and being part of the “me first” consumer society than what really matters).

      • 1happywoman Says:

        DOG and Buddy T,

Thank you both for reminding me it’s all about the Electoral College and specifically about the swing states! I feel so shocked and horrified at the sheer number of Trump supporters that I lost my bearings there for a bit.

  7. Critical states are:

    FLORIDA
    OHIO
    MICHIGAN
    PENNSYLVANIA

    Second tier of importance:

    VIRGINIA
    NORTH CAROLINA
    COLORADO
    NEW HAMPSHIRE
    IOWA

Trump would have to carry both Ohio AND Florida in order to have a CHANCE to win. And even then…it would not be assured, depending on what happens in other states. So those 9 states above are where the “wars” are gong to be fought over coming months.

That is why Hillary was in Ohio yesterday.

  8. Tom Bates Says:

Did it ever occur to you Trump haters the guy is essentially a moderate who is simply telling the truth about the state of our domestic and foreign policy and that change is possible? Trump has the brains to hire the best of the best.

On climate change the best might or might not provide him with the information to support your position. It is unlikely they will support your position that man is warming the world as the evidence does not support it. The evidence does not support the claim the world has been warming for almost twenty years though it is warmer than in the depths of the little ice age and is still colder than in 1000 AD. The evidence shows the arctic was ice free for around 2000 years not that long ago and that arctic animals adapted to those changes since they are still here. The evidence shows that it has been warmer than the present for most of the last 4000 years. The forcing from CO2 increase has been measured, 9 percent increase forcing was 0.080F which is not much. The current ocean rise trend is 3 inches in 100 years, again not much and that antarctic ice is gaining as is Greenlands ice.

Since the real problem is population growth, 3.83 times increase since 1920, maybe the best of the best might point that out to him so we could start doing something to fix that problem, a real problem.

    • dumboldguy Says:

What HAS occurred to us is that Tom Bates is “essentially” an ignorant and lying moron who is simply unable to tell the truth about much of ANYTHING (but especially about climate change, where Master Bates repeats the same bald-faced lies over and over as he “pleasures” himself).

Tom is “the worst of the worst” of the denier trolls here on Crock, and it’s no surprise that he’s a Trump admirer. DNFTT!

    • A. “Did it ever occur to you Trump haters the guy is essentially a moderate who is simply telling the truth about the state of our domestic and foreign policy and that change is possible? Trump has the brains to hire the best of the best.”

First off….I’m a FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. Trump….is more of a liberal than most suspect. Personally…..I don’t CARE what his ideology is. I care about his DECISION MAKING ability and his wisdom. His decision making ability is CLEARLY FLAWED (he consults….HIMSELF on foreign affairs), and his wisdom is lacking. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between intelligence and wisdom. Bernie Madoff is intelligent……and not so wise. An oversized ego like Trump’s will allow him to make a LOT of bad decisions….and never change his mind.

The “best of the best” are NOT going to go to work with someone like Trump. They are going to AVOID HIM LIKE THE PLAGUE.

      B. “On climate change the best might or might not provide him with the information to support your position. It is unlikely they will support your position that man is warming the world as the evidence does not support it.”

The “best of the best” DO SUPPORT MY DECISION. You need to look at some FACTS, SCIENCE, and what CLIMATE SCIENTISTS have researched. It is clear to anyone who LOOKS AT THE FACTS AND SCIENCE. 97% of climate scientists aren’t wrong. Nice try though..:)

      C. “Since the real problem is population growth…”

You’ll get NO ARGUMENT from me on the issue of population growth. Yes…it IS A PROBLEM. However….it is no being leveraged by global warming. So we’re getting a BIG DOSE OF BOTH. BOTH NEED TO BE RESOLVED.
