There’s a quote in there from the ‘Dark Money’ book that bears repeating: “One study found that 140 conservative foundations funneled more than a HALF-A-BILLION DOLLARS to more than a hundred Climate Denial organizations” [between 2003 and 2010].

That’s about a hundred million dollars a year toward people who do little more than tag Climate Scientists with swear words and call it ‘Art’.

60 Minutes last Sunday had an extensive segment on how much of a Congressman’s time has to be spent raising money for their reelection campaigns. Just about HALF, and that’s more time than they spend on doing their actual jobs and serving their constituents.

The Dems and Repugnants both maintain call centers just up the street from the Capitol where they can go and sit in a cubicle to make their calls, since they’re not allowed to do so from their offices. One Congressman said he “didn’t get elected so he could sit in a closet and spend half his time as a telemarketer”, and a number are leaving because of this.

The same dirty-dark money that has now corrupts the electoral process finds its way to the deniers through the “conservative” foundations and “think tanks”, and it represents the interests of FIRE-Wall Street, big business, fossil fuels, and the plutocracy, NOT the greater good.

IMO, if Citizens United is not overturned soon, we will NEVER deal adequately with government dysfunction OR AGW.
