More Morano: Interview Part 2

December 11, 2015

Part 2 of my extended interview with Marc Morano, another chapter in my continuing effort to understand the mysterious mirror-dimension of climate science deniers.

UPDATE:

Let me know if this video is working. As I see it, it does show up, but in rushing to pull it together before leaving town, I erred in editing and left a long stretch of black nothing after the desired 3:15  of content. So when he stops talking and goes to black, that’s it.

I’m traveling, and sitting in an airport right now, without access to the original file. Apologies.

    Video won’t play—-shows as “private”. ???

  2. I’m wondering did Marc Morano object and that is why the video is labeled private?

  3. dumboldguy Says:

The video came through fine this time. I was surprised to see that Morano”s comments actually made some small sense here, as opposed to some of his past interviews.

Has his IQ gone up into low triple digits by some miracle or medication? Is he finally seeing the light about AGW and how the politicians and special interests have driven the “debate” and the denial? Is he any more qualified to talk about politics than he is about AGW?

Please send out Part 3 ASAP.

  4. Plays fine. Sound levels are a bit low — but audible.

Here’s a thought that has been rattling around in my head for a while.
I have heard many times that there are many GOP members that off the record really do think that AGW is real, but cannot find a path for them to talk about it or openly support it due to the fear that their Fox News consuming base will turn on them.
So given that scenario, maybe they secretly want Obama to take action that they cannot control, thus giving them cover politically. Then they can bluster all day long about Obama’s ‘tyranny’ and threaten impeachment, but in private they can be relieved that their children and grandchildren will have a better chance than if the real deniers get their way.

The reason you have “heard many times” that some GOP members are afraid to speak their true minds (or behave with the greater good of the nation as their guiding principle) is that things ARE exactly that way in this country.

They are afraid of the insane Repugnant “enforcers” on the right who demand that all Republicans “toe the line” or face attack from conservatives. Anyone who doesn’t do so faces a primary challenge, and it has happened to enough of them that they are running scared. Best example of that is Eric Cantor, a big name in the party who was knocked off by a Tea Party no-name here in VA.

The “no tax” pledge to Grover Norquist that virtually every Repugnant has signed, the NRA, the Tea Party, the religious fundamentalists, the anti-gay/abortion/immigrant/Muslim/racists, to say nothing of the Kochs and the other dirty money providers—-all are ready to destroy any Republican who wants to act like a real patriot and move the country forward.

It all began with Reagan and has moved forward for 45+ years now, and the irony is that if he were running today Reagan himself would be under attack by the present bunch of crazies for not being Repugnant enough.

  6. Lionel Smith Says:

Marano must be deluded if he thinks they are doing OK scientifically. Maybe he not yet caught up on the Cruz farrago and how Curry pushed herself further into the mire and made more people aware of that, and Christy has some awkward issues WRT satellite data to answer, see my comment under the ‘What’s it Like Outside? Let me Check the Satellite… ‘ article here.

Must congratulate Admiral Titley again, not least for his ability top sit next to Steyn without losing it. That Steyn would be on such a panel should tell Morano how strong the denial science is.
