Listen, there’s now at least a half dozen studies showing that the Republicans are laboring under the tragic handicap of mental inadequacy and brain abnormalities. Maybe we should just be kinder and gentler in helping them off the stage and to a place that can help them… but off the stage for the benefit of the rest of us. http://reverbpress.com/politics/proof-republicans-are-stupid/

Yep—from the link:
“What they found was that “conservative students had a larger amygdala than liberals.” Conversely, the anterior cingulate cortex of liberal students had more gray matter than their conservative counterparts”.
I have been touting The Republican Brain by Chris Mooney for a long time on Crock. It’s a good read and will tell you all you need to know about the amygdala, ACC, and “political neurophysiology”.
And some of those “brain abnormalities” the Repugnants are afflicted with are actually adaptive in certain environments and positive in certain situations. Being warped and dumb CAN be useful—-just not in the today’s complicated world and definitely not in politicians.

If you guys want to pathologize people by their politics, you might want to hear what Jonathan Haidt has to say about libertarians. @24:00 in his interview with Chris Mooney, he says libertarians “are the smartest people out there. They are the most rational, clearest thinking, least emotional …”:

“smartest people”?
not my experience.

Not in my experience either. IMO, Libertarians are living in some dream world from the past that is not suited to the world of 2015. “Small government” and “free markets” will be the death of civilization, not its salvation. Haidt is too impressed with himself and IMO overreaches in his interpretation of the “research” that has been done about libertarians vs folks of other political persuasions.
There is no need for “us guys” to “pathologize” libertarians and other conservatives who cut off their noses to spite their faces in the name of ideology. They do it to themselves every day, and they are by any definition “dumb” (and that’s in recognition of my final paragraph in my previous comment).
