Straddling Denial, Kasich on Climate

September 10, 2015

Ouch. That contortion looks painful…

More in a series as candidates begin to weigh in on the issue.
Particularly tough for Republican candidates, as their party has decided, incredibly, to go full Darth Vader anti-science on the issue –  to sound reasonable to moderates.

Above, John Kasich tries to force camel through needle’s eye.

“That contortion looks painful” What’s incredibly sad about this moment in history is written on that questioners face: “I don’t want to be a di -k about it, but oh, by the way, could you please stop pretending that you aren’t ruining my grandson’s life?” And everybody around him has that same response: the way you respond to someone who just pointed out that the emperor has no clothes, like “how dare that person point that out HERE, of all places?” We’ve just all decided not to talk about the inconvenient fact that we’re destroying the Climate, and so anyone who DOES bring it up just kind of has to be confrontational about it, and subsequently gets blamed for destroying the ‘vibe’. I feel simultaneous embarrassed for Kasich and angry at him for causing me to be embarrassed, when, really, HE should be.

Kasich, “…You know its a balance. Most things in life area balance…”

But physics doesn’t giving a fling monkey’s cuss about Kasich arguments about some framed balance forced by ideological wilful ignorance.

It won’t be long before goons like Kasich begin to crow about nature producing more GHGs than humans as this New Study — Risk of Significant Methane Release From East Siberian Arctic Shelf Still Growing discusses. The Kasiches of the world glossing over why this is happening.

BTW there is an excellent article on the Syria humanitarian disaster at the above cited blog, with well informed comments below.

A good link. Semiletov and Shakhova are back, just like Boris and Natasha—-will the Rocky and Bullwinkle climate scientists appear again and convince everyone to whistle past the Methane Bomb graveyard?

Have we forgotten the concept of tipping points? And how potent a GHG methane is? I understand that we don’t want to foment panic, but arctic methane release is a known unknown that needs to be paid more attention.

RE: Kasich. I hadn’t looked at him closely—had the impression that he was “better” than Walker, Cruz, Bush, Trump, etc. He’s not, and this short clip proves it. Balance? There is “much discussion” about AGW? The old saw about not destroying the economy? All typical Repugnant mindless BS. If this election ends up hinging on AGW, the Repugnants are doomed.
