Climate Denial and Racism. Again.

A well known climate denier (who would probably want me to link to him) demonstrates once again something I’ve noticed and commented on for years.
Now that a national debate over this symbol has made the issue even more prominent, can there be anyone who does not get the crystal clear message being sent here? This is not a dog whistle, it’s a public address system.
C’mon over – You can trust me because I’m a racist, too!

Well said. That’s what I said to a neighbor here in VA who has recently taken to flying a 3′ x 3′ confederate battle flag from a staff on his front porch. I don’t think I was the only one to speak to him (there are at least 6 American flags flying from houses within 50 yards of his), and his response was to add an American flag on the other side of his porch and some red and white bunting between them in his “display”. Fair and balance, I guess. He’ll be the object of future “lessons” from me and others, I’m sure.
To be fair to SteveyGakaTonyHellerExposed, do remember that he did tell us in a comment on another thread that he wasn’t really a racist—-that posting the battle flag was just a “marketing” ploy—-he was only trying to make his site attractive to the racists, who will chase the flag like flies chase piles of horseshit.
After all, if throwing around piles of horseshit is good for the Repugnant candidates for president (and the biggest “thrower” of all is Donald Trump), why shouldn’t Stevey be allowed to do the same? He, like Trump, is just an attention seeker who is trying to gather the ignorant and functionally illiterate around him—isn’t that the American Way?

Unlike with Kevin Bacon, You can’t find six degrees of separation between racism and climate change denial. Through people like Helms and Cruz, you can make the leap easily, and connecting racism and AGW you will find voter suppression, antipathy towards gays, immigrants, and women, ALEC, the Kochs, the Chamber of Commerce, the free-marketers, and all the other Repugnant and red state “symptoms”.
It goes: Racism —> everything Republicans do and stand for —> climate change denial. Simple.
Ken Burns gets it. The Civil War was fought because of slavery, period, and anyone who reads the Articles of Secession from the states of the confederacy can see that easily. They are mind-blowing in their clarity. The flag was permanently flown mainly in cemeteries and at museums until the civil rights movement began. (That of course is ignoring the KKK parades, which were one day events) . The flag was resurrected by white racists, white supremacists, and neo-Nazis as a protest and symbol of racism, not as a symbol of “heritage”.
Rachel Maddow ALWAYS gets it, and should Ted Cruz survive very far in the race (I sincerely hope not), I hope he gets beaten to death with his love for Jesse Helms. In his case, there are really no degrees of separation. Cruz doesn’t believe in AGW and loves Helms—-one foot in each camp—-end of story.

PS I forgot to say that Russell Cook is then by definition a racist as well, since Ted Cruz is a racist, and Russell agrees with Ted on AGW. Have I gotten this “degrees of separation” thing right?

Yup, the godly forebears of the South were very clear about their, er, states’ rights.
Alexander Stephens, Vice-President of the Confederate States of America, laid it all out for posterity on March 21, 1861 in his Cornerstone Speech, barely 2 weeks after the inauguration of Abraham Lincoln.
