Sea level rise? You Scientists are, like, CRAZY! Ha ha! HAHAHAHAHAHAHah!!!

More proof that you have to be crazy to work as a scientist for the State of Florida.
A public employee has been suspended for mentioning climate change in a state meeting, and will not be allowed to return to work without a physician’s evaluation of his “behavior issues.”

St. Peters Blog:

Gov. Rick Scott’s prohibition on the term “climate change” has now claimed its first casualty, says an environmental responsibility group.

On March 9, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) suspended a state employee for speaking about climate change at an official meeting, which made its way into the record of the meeting, according to a complaint filed today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER).

Barton Bibler, a long-time DEP employee, received a letter of reprimand ordering him to take two days personal leave. The agency also instructed Bibler not to return without medical clearance.

Bibler currently serves as Land Management Plan Coordinator in DEP Division of State Lands.

On February 27, Bibler attended a Florida Coastal Managers Forum, where a number of attendees discussed climate change and sea-level rise, among other environmental topics.

Bibler’s official notes reported all of that conversation.

DEP superiors directed Bibler to remove any “hot button issues,” such as explicit references to climate change. The letter of reprimand, dated March 9, accused Bibler of misrepresenting the “official meeting agenda (so it) included climate change.”

Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility:

Washington, DC — A Florida state employee is in hot water for speaking about climate change at an official meeting and keeping notes of that discussion in official minutes, according to a complaint filed today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). In response, his superiors at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued him a letter of reprimand, ordered him to take two days leave and then told him not to return until he had medical clearance of his fitness for duty.

Barton Bibler is a long-time DEP employee who now serves as Land Management Plan Coordinator in its Division of State Lands. He attended a Florida Coastal Managers Forum on February 27, 2015 at which climate change and sea-level rise were discussed among a mix of public attendees. Mr. Bibler’s official notes on this meeting reflected all of that discussion. He was directed to remove any hot button issues, especially explicit references to climate change, and then was given a letter of reprimand for supposedly misrepresenting that the “official meeting agenda included climate change.”

As he was given the reprimand on March 9th, Mr. Bibler was told to not return to work for two days which would be charged against his personal leave time. Two days later he received a “Medical Release Form” requiring that his doctor supply the DEP with an evaluation of unspecified “medical condition and behavior” issues before being allowed to return to work.

“Bart Bibler has fallen through a professional looking glass in a Florida where the words ‘climate change’ may not be uttered, or even worse, written down,” stated Florida PEER Director Jerry Phillips, a former DEP attorney, pointing out that Bart Bibler has no idea whether he will ever be allowed to return to work. “If anyone needs mental health screening it is Governor Rick Scott and other officials telling state workers to pretend that climate change and sea-level rise do not exist.”

    Amen

  2. Do I see a lawsuit coming? Will the MSM avoid discussing it? Stay tuned!

I’ve managed “public employees”, and his DEP superiors have walked into a minefield of stupidity. IMO, he should definitely file suit. Charging him personal leave when they told him to stay home? LOL And the requirement for “medical clearance of his fitness for duty” and the unspecified “medical condition and behavior issues” smacks of defamation. PEER should offer him support in the lawsuit.

Florida’s only going to be the first to go under. Is this the way it ends – a pathetic mental crumbling into ever more feverish denial against a Reality which will not stop? It’ll be an adventurous 21st century.

His management needs him to get the doctor’s note so they can cover their own derrière when he files an illegal work practice suit.

Sinister, dark story from the U.S sunshine state indeed, but one wonders how many others are suppressing the fact of climate change (institutions, states and countries).

The self-funded documentary by former television news anchor Chai Jing has been abruptly censored and it would not surprise me to see Chai imprisoned or punished in some other way. In Canada a group of 71 scientists have got together and released a report after being ignored and shunned by their own government, and I can’t image what goes on in Russia.

As Peter Sinclair put it it is the most important issue of the millennium. This week we have learnt that a major part of the EAIS is melting away, from underneath by channels of warm ocean currents, the Amazon (lungs of the world) have declined as a carbon sink by a staggering 33% in only ten years.

As the Union of Concerned Scientists (U.S.A) say::::::

“No more deception. No more delay. It’s time for climate action. “

“Carroll Muffett, President of the Center for International Environmental Law, says from “asbestos to tobacco to oil spills, history shows that those who mislead the public, the market or the government about the risks of their products, or the availability of safer alternatives, can face substantial legal liability, both as companies and as individuals. As the impacts of climate denialism and regulatory obstruction become clear, we want to understand how corporations, insurers, and officers and directors are allocating those risks among themselves. Just as importantly, we ask what steps they’re taking to prevent the misconduct that creates those risks in the first place.”
