New Next Gen Election Ad

October 29, 2014

New climate theme ad from Tom Steyer’s Next Gen group.

I’m told it was to appear on a world series broadcast. Not a baseball fan, so don’t know, but it’s getting a lot of traffic online,

Narrator, Woody Harrelson, Director, Darren Aronofsky.

I have a problem with the sound, where Harrelson says “..they tell us climate change is a hoax..” — it’s a bit muffled, and I lost the meaning on the first listening.

See what you think.

  1. That new climate change Ad from Tom Steyer’s Next Gen group left me confused. Harrelson words weren’t clear when he says “..they tell us climate change is ___?___”, and initially I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to a believer in climate change, or a skeptic of climate change.
The clip shows that the brightest minds of past generations thought that the earth was flat, or that the Earth was the center of the solar system, or that leaded gas, smoking, and cloroflourocarbons were harmless. All were subsequently shown to be wrong. Now climate scientists are saying fossil fuel burning adds dangerous amounts of Carbon Dioxide to the atmosphere. Is the message in the Ad that these scientists will also be provent to be wrong, or is he trying to say that those who say higher levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is NOT dangerous will be proven to be wrong? Without clarity of Harrelson’s words, I was left unsatisfied.

I think all you need is that video of Inhoff stating that we’re in a cooling phase next to the projection that 2014 will be the hottest year on record. Just make sure to publish the year Inhoff made his prediction. Then push out to a picture of the the earth and say, ‘When this is on the line, why do you keep voting for these guys?’

They did a pretty aggressive Ebola ad a while ago:
