Brilliant reminder of how long we have apathetically put up with our “Tragedy of the Common”. Classic paper from Gilbert N. Plass, someone roll it up and wrap/smack/tap/belt the bellicose deniers like Watts and Curry over the head with it.

“The latest calculations of the influence of CO, on the infrared flux show that if the CO, concentration in the atmosphere doubles the
    average temperature rises 3.6 °C.” Gilbert N. Plass 1955

  2. I prefer the full metal jacket over Pete’s in convincing deniers. Played backwards it says Watts is a nut (That only works with records ).

I like the “1980: Walter Cronkite on Climate Change”

    So not Al Gore

Many thanks for sharing that gem from 1980 – and still people regard it as a recent phenomenon

  3. redskylite Says:

“one would expect that carbon dioxide would have far more effect upon the temperature of the Arctic region”

I’ve gone back even further in time to 1937 and found this classic paper by G.S Callendar titled “The artificial production of Carbon Dioxide”

While we do not jump to every scientific conclusion why has it remained so deeply opposed even today. – madness
