The Weekend Wonk: Gavin Schmidt on Climate Models
May 2, 2014
Nice 12 minute TED talk on the uses of climate modeling, by NASA’s Gavin Schmidt.
We are developing a group of climate scientist communicators who are really polished, passionate, and skilled. This is a good development. Michael Mann, Jeff Masters, and now Gavin Schmidt are in the forefront of this trend.

A good speaker for the more educated public but needs to be at a different and magnetic level to appeal to the general public… we need more simplicity to get the message over, it is not so difficult.

How’s this for simple?

That’s excellent – thanks for sharing

Nice little piece, but one doesn’t have to be a 5th generation farmer to see what’s happening. I am a 40+ year suburban subdivision 1/3 acre “farmer” of grass, shrubs, trees, vegetables and flowers. My neighbors and I are not blind to what has been happening in our neighborhood (correction—SOME of my neighbors are not blind).

Doncha know that it’s the sun DOG. Perhaps, Real Americans ™ are better messengers than radical leftist “scientists” and the libtards ™ who follow their nonsensical “research”. “Greenhouse gasses” are a hoax. We don’t want to reduce “CO2 emissions” to protect “the environment”. We really want to advance the UN’s communist agenda while bankrupting America by any means possible. It must be true. I heard it on Fox.

And people call ME cynical? (PS I only watch Fox via Media Matters, Jon Stewart, Crooks and Liars, and other sites that spend much time pointing out that there is little “truth” on Fox).

My brother and parents are in Charleston WV and what they tend to voluntarily express to me from time to time is the daily volatility in temperature: one day will be below freezing; two days later it will be in the 80’s; then two days later it will be in the 50’s…
My apologies to the folks raised on the metric system. We in the US are slowly moving toward the metric system, inch by inch.

In terms of wind disasters (ie tornadoes, hurricanes), we will probably see more of that as the globe warms, since those types of events are heat-driven.
However, overall global windiness is likely to decline. By that, I mean the prevailing and trade winds. That’s because the polar regions will warm faster than the temperate and tropical zones. The difference in temperature between the poles and the tropics is what drives these winds, and as the difference declines, those winds should weaken.
I haven’t been able to find any figures. That is to say, I haven’t seen any reports about the wind decline X% by year 2050, etc.
One thing to think about – the decline of such winds would not be good news for wind power. But again, without some figures, I can’t say how big a difference it will make.

All of those ”models” are ignoring that oxygen &nitrogen are 998999ppm, they, the horizontal and vertical winds are regulating the temp on the planet earth / nothing to do with a trace gas as CO2 – O2&N2 expand and shrink INSTANTLY in change of temp and regulate that ”OVERALL” temp is always the same in the atmosphere: http://globalwarmingdenier.wordpress.com/climate/

Crock appears to be under attack from another pack of trolls. Has all the extreme precipitation washed them out from under the bridge?
I highly recommend stupidthedenier’s linked site to all. It is a laugh riot, and so full of fractured physics that I suspect it’s really a spoof of real denialist sites. The unfortunate thing about that is that the willfully ignorant who come across it will accept it as truth and parrot it endlessly to other ignorant people, who will continue to pass it on ad infinitum ad nauseum.
Gases “expand and shrink INSTANTLY”, and “OVERALL temp is always the same”, says stupid. LMAO, but that is so incredibly DUMB!

Mr. dumb, don’t be scared from the truth – on the end the truth always wins; so don’t have sleepless nights, thinking how to silence the truth that I have, and am proud of it. cheers!

Go away, troll!
