the guy that taught me to fingerpick was a Virginia boy from Big Stone Gap – played in the John Hurt Style.

Great music, Peter! Didn’t know you fingerpick! Some of my greatest childhood memories revolve around Friday night singalongs, with Uncle John on the banjo, Grandpa on the mandolin, Dad on the Guitar and Uncle Bob on the harmonica. This was the late ’60s and our elders loved old folk music. This was all in Otsego….on the “west side”, where our families gathered for a long weekend at Uncle John and Aunt Helen’s. And the barbecues………
got a sweet Taylor that I never have time to play anymore.
