May 3 EPA Statement: Japanese Nuclear Emergency: EPA’s Radiation Monitoring

I generally trust the EPA –
Ambient radiation levels in the US are low, and will stay low – probably lower than during the nuclear testing era(although that had it’s consequences in terms of cancers, etc)
however, I’m looking for more information on what happens to radioactive materials that are concentrating in the ocean food chain.
Wondering how a consumer would ever know if someone catches a 3000 pound tuna a year from now, that happens to have high levels of cesium or strontium, and then gets processed into thousands of doses and sent around the country, or around the world – to be absorbed into muscle tissue or bone, and deliver high doses at the tissue and cellular level to the consumer.
Am I imagining this problem? I have not seen it addressed yet.
Moreover,
the generally corrosive effect of everything we are doing to the global pool of precious dna concerns me.
